Pangkalan Bun

Pangkalan Bun is a Central Kalimantan town on the Arut River, best known as the overland and air gateway to Tanjung Puting National Park -- home to wild and rehabilitated orangutans and reached by klotok riverboat from the nearby port of Kumai. Hotels cluster in the town center near the government district, a short drive from Iskandar Airport, and serve travelers overnighting before or after a park excursion as well as visitors on regional business. The town itself is compact and low-rise, with the national park and its river routes as the main draw rather than the town center.
