Uong Bi

Uong Bi is a small industrial and mining town in Quang Ninh Province, mainly known as the gateway to Yen Tu Mountain, the birthplace of Vietnam's Truc Lam school of Buddhism and one of the country's most important pilgrimage sites. Hotels here serve pilgrims and day-trippers heading up the mountain's cable car and temple complex rather than beach or bay tourism, and it sits within reach of both Ha Long Bay and Hanoi for travelers combining multiple northern Vietnam stops.
