A playful lifestyle hotel set in the restored 1970s Oriental Bank building in KL's Chinatown, with compact smart-design rooms, a rooftop pool and Bar Moxy.

Moxy Kuala Lumpur Chinatown is Moxy's first Kuala Lumpur property, opened in 2025 by YTL Hotels inside the adaptively reused 1970s Oriental Bank building on Jalan Hang Lekiu. As a Moxy, it delivers the brand's playful, select-service lifestyle formula: a loud, colourful lobby ("Zone In") doubling as a check-in bar, self-service lockers instead of room service, and a young, design-forward feel across roughly 320 compact rooms on 21 storeys. Reviewers consistently praise the unbeatable Chinatown location -- walkable to Petaling Street, Masjid Jamek LRT and Pasar Seni -- plus friendly staff, a level-9 rooftop pool and Bar Moxy with skyline views of KL Tower and the Twin Towers, and a solid breakfast. TripAdvisor rates it around 4 of 5. The recurring watchouts are equally clear: rooms are small with clever wall-peg storage and an open basin in the bedroom, and noise carries -- from the lobby music, nearby bars late into the night, and thin doors. Rooftop bar prices run high, parking is paid, and the immediate streets can feel quiet and dim after dark. Best for younger, design-minded travellers prioritising location and vibe over space and quiet.

Stay in an Executive Corner Room with KL Tower, Twin Towers and TRX views. Praises the adaptive-reuse bank building, city views, breakfast and staff; flags a tiny fridge, high rooftop-bar prices and a dim, quiet neighbourhood after dark.

Rates it 4/5 for short KL stays. Loves the central Jalan Hang Lekiu location and smart, compact rooms with excellent wall storage; downsides are loud lobby music, risky bedroom sink placement, limited TV channels and paid parking.

Stayed on the 16th floor (RM315 incl. breakfast) for the Masjid Jamek LRT access. Liked the modern minimalist room, level-8 coin laundry and level-9 gym/pool, but was kept awake by nearby-bar noise at 3am and noted few towel hooks.
